To us, attention to detail matters in its application.

Intricate machining that contributes nothing to functionality is window dressing (that only has the appearance of doing something but is superficial and misleading). Function over form, and form follows function, are honest and unambiguous.

Today we look at the changes on the URF.

The section before the 1913 rails start. A simple 45 degree relief on both sides allows a flip up BUIS's sight stalk to be more quickly and easily accessed. Simple solution to a simple ergonomic problem.  Nothing further is necessary.

URF also features a relief on the top of the forward assist housing.  Forward assists can be somewhat controversial, but for us, their utility and function can't be overlooked, that they can be misused and abused is far from justification for their removal.  That said, URF v2 does have an option (URF-S v2) that does not have provisions for a forward assist, for those that don't want it or use it.

The bold stroke on the top of the forward assist housing may look different and striking, it is not done for aesthetics or weight saving (we have never been on the light weight bandwagon, or any other fad for that matter)..  It's there for ambidextrous charging handle's right latch/handle.  A finger can reach down further and get a better purchase on an ambidextrous charging handle's right latch/handle.

But for these changes above, URF is thus little changed from the CMT UPUR-1 on which it is based.  CMT's UPUR-1 is an excellent billet upper receiver, superbly machined and finished, it is our choice for hosting the two ergonomics changes.
