Part Number:10.9lb/in Mag Catch Springs (Pack of 5)
Forward Controls Design's exclusive stainless steel 302 10.9lb/in magazine release spring was designed and made for our EMR-A (Enhanced Magazine Release, Ambidextrous) to mitigate accidental/unintended magazine drop risks, and ships with every EMR-A.  The EMR-A isn't more prone to these risks, we believe the factory mag catch spring is rather weak (8.3lb/in), and can contribute to accidental/unintentional mag drops.

We've found that the extra spring rate (31% stronger) magazine spring has practical uses, with or without our EMR-A.  If you wear armor and have pouches on the vest, it might have happened to you.   On the right side of the receiver, the mag release button has a fence to defend against such accidents, but under the right circumstances, a pouch or gear can still actuate the mag release button and drop the magazine. With an ambidextrous magazine release where most receivers do not have a fence to protect it, an extra power mag catch spring can reduce the likelihood.

During the EMR and EMR-C development, we measured it only took 0.07 average of mag catch travel before a magazine is dropped.  The mag release button fence does its best to prevent it, but the fence can't wholly stop it from happening.  An AR with a mag release button that protrudes over the fence by 0.08 is best left for gaming for this very reason, as the likelihood of accidental/unintentional mag drops significantly increases.  A stronger spring can alleviate these risks.

Package of 5, free shipping.

Please wear eye protection while installing the 10.9lb/in mag catch spring, there's considerable spring tension in the 10.9lb spring.

Proudly made in the USA.
