2025 marks our 11th year in business. Our ways have not changed since late 2014 even if the company is a bit bigger and far more professionally run than a full time IT systems engineer working FCD part time. The way we do everything has remained the same, and our goals haven't changed either. We don't aspire to more revenue or growth, we don't want to be, or beat anyone, we have our unique and quirky identity we're happy with, and we've come to appreciate being a company many haven't heard of except in some circles.
We don't like to do shiny parts or anything with lots of machining as decorations, our products are designed for work, not for show. But for our anniversary items, we make exceptions to these rules.
For our 11th anniversary, we have chosen the CNF and CN5F, which also marks the debut of 17-4 PH stainless steel versions of the CNF and CN5F.
We are pretty low key on logo placement and size (if it exists at all) on products, a logo is but an identifier in our opinion. We've also stopped making shiny products since around 2019, including raw titanium and stainless steel. Except for special occasions like our anniversary where we offer both in small quantities.
CNF is a product we've had since early 2019, CN5F (a slightly longer version that covers more of the threads on A5 compatible receiver extensions for strength) came in mid 2022, both have only been offered in 4140 PH, and both will be available in 17-4 SS PH in 2026.
Each 11th anniversary CNF or CN5F requires 200 passes and spends 10 minutes on the laser engraver. The Cygnus logo has a Roman numeral XI in the upper right hand corner.
Available in 2 lengths: CNF (TDP spec length) and CN5F (0.1" longer) for A5 compatible receiver extensions) , and in either raw 17-4 stainless steel or black nitride.
