FGM (Fore Grip MLOK) is a companion product of HSM (Hand Stop, MLOK), it's a short fore grip with MLOK interface for MLOK handguards.
FGM and HSM used to be a single modular product. Due to the complexity and high cost, the hand stop and short fore grip were separated and developed as individual products. FGM can be considered a longer version of the HSM.
Both FGM and HSM have been designed to be wider than the width of the MLOK handguard's mounting base width at 0.75", we see no reason the grip or hand stop couldn't be wider for more usable surface and contact. FGM measures 1.25" wide, and provides better traction from the increased usable contact area with the user's hand. There is noticeable overhang on both sides of HSM on both sides, this is by design.
FGM's shape is based on its functions. The way it's shaped discourages the user from holding it like a broom stick, but does encourage the user to cradle the handguard with the web between the thumb and index finger on the handguard, and the rest of hand naturally extending downward at an angle, thus FGM is angled at 10 degrees to accommodate it. The beaver tail on the bottom helps with retention. There are flutes on the sides designed to be a resting place for the user's finger tips. This finger tip rest feature is mostly lost on the HSM since it's too short, but is far more useful on the short grip version. The serrations are on 6 sides of FGM do a very good job providing traction.
