The Aimpoint COA uses the A-CUT footprint, a great design for milled slides. For modular systems such as Gen6 ORS for which OPF-G6 ORS, COA was developed, the A-CUT is a bit of a compromise . For ORS, an A-CUT plate must be of sufficiently thickness for the screws' countersink depth, and to securely mount a COA. Thickness adds weight, while the weight can be mitigated by using lighter material such as titanium (we refuse to make plates in aluminum), there is nothing to be done about the added installed COA height, the plate must follow Aimpoint's TDP for COA to work properly, we don't deviate from the manufacturer's guidelines.
A Gen 6 ORS with a COA adapter (not the factory Gen 6 slides with a fixed/permanent COA footprint) retains the ORS's versatility, as the user is able to change optics by using different adapter plates, the necessary thickness for a COA adapter puts the COA taller over the bore, about the same as an ACRO P2 mounted on a Gen 6 ORS slide.
COA is a great sight and we will be supporting it with our Glock Gen 6 COA solution. OPF-G6, COA will be a multi-part package with options. With an adapter plate for Gen 6 ORS, an Aimpoint COA will be mounted roughly at the same height as an Aimpoint ACRO P2 on a Gen 6 ORS slide with ample backup sights options that work with both.
