We've been looking to make a small tool case for carrying a few things we find useful to have around when we're out training or shooting. We wanted the case to hold GI cleaning rods, a brush, a small bottle of lube, a multitool, and a small bag of cleaning patch. The project began in 2012 or 2013, we had prototypes made but since we left to start FCD, the project was put on hold.
Over the years, we continued to simply and reduce the size of the case, it was a good thing the original tool case never went to production, it was complicated, large, and altogether not in line with the portable tool case idea that evolved since 2013. No longer do we need the pouch to hold USGI cleaning rods, we have developed the CSR (Compact Sectional Rods) that are much shorter and higher quality, this change reduced the tool case size requirement.
We experimented with a few pouches that might be suitable for the application. We found the Spiritus Systems small GP pouch to be a perfect fit with a divider (optional).
The Spiritus Systems small GP pouch can be used as a small tool case as it without the divider, we like the divider insert to provide 4 compartments for a multitool, a bag of patches, a small bottom of lube, and our CSR (Compact Sectional Rods). It also has a zippered pocket for small items such as the Multitasker Nano 2
Multitasker NANO 2 Miniature Optic Adjustment Tool. Alternatively, cleaning patches can be stored in the front zippered pocket to save room for another tool. An Otis cleaning kit
Otis MSR/AR CLEANING KIT can also fit inside the small GP pouch, there will still be room for other tools.
Below is an example of how Spiritus small GP pouch can be used, it contains the following:
1 Multitool
1 Gerber Short Stack tool
1 CSR
1 Small bottle of lube
1 Small bag of cleaning patches.
In the example below, the Spiritus small GP pouch has been reconfigured to carry the following:
1 Otis MSR/AR cleaning kit
1 CSR
1 Multitool
1 Small bottle of lube
Cleaning patches have been relocated to the front, zippered pocket.
